निर्जल एकादशी व्रत
Devotees undertake the Nirjala Ekadashi vrat to seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu, particularly the deity in his form as Lord Krishna. It is believed that observing this fast helps in attaining spiritual purification, forgiveness of sins, and blessings for a happy and prosperous life. People also believe that observing Nirjala Ekadashi vrat is equivalent to observing all the Ekadashi vrats throughout the year.
Devotees wake up early on Nirjala Ekadashi day, take a bath, and then perform prayers and rituals dedicated to Lord Vishnu. They visit temples and offer flowers, fruits, and other sacred items to the deity. Throughout the day, devotees abstain from eating or drinking anything, demonstrating their dedication and self-discipline. Some people engage in chanting prayers, reading religious texts, or participating in spiritual activities during the day.
The fast continues until the next day, Dwadashi, which is the 12th day of the lunar month. On Dwadashi, devotees break their fast after performing specific rituals and prayers. They consume a meal consisting of vegetarian food to end the fasting period.
It's important to note that fasting practices can vary among individuals and families, and it's advisable to consult with a knowledgeable person or a priest for specific guidance based on your cultural or religious traditions.
